About the Author
Melinda Coss runs The Handmade Soap Company in West Wales. Her soaps are sold at the exclusive L'Atelier du Savon in the Marais district of Paris and she also supplies some of the most prestigious hotels and stores in London. A regular contributor to magazines, she has also appeared on television and is the author of a wide range of craft books including the forthcoming Gourmet Soap Made Easy, also published by New Holland.

OK Beginner Book

I used this book to make a few of the soap recipes. I thought the author did a good job of explaining and the pictures are quite lovely but mine definitely didn't turn out looking like hers. I also didn't like the fact that the recipes I try all used lye and I really wanted to steer clear of using it. So if you want to use lye I would say there are quite a few plausible recipes in the book. If you don't I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Also, if you are a veteran soap maker than this book isn't for you.
