Really good series

This is a really good series, set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Era. There have been many historical fiction series focusing on the life and career of British naval officers of the period. This one deals with a British army officer, giving a different perspective.
As with the others other works, this series features interesting plots, good storytelling, and well developed characters. In addition to the military action, the story covers the ins and outs of English society of the period. I would have normally considered something like that to be boring, but the author makes it an interesting part of the story.
The series should definitely be read in order, starting with "Soldier Brat".
After binge reading the first 3 books, I eagerly await the next volume in the series.

I am an avid reader of this gentleman. If he has a formula, given his prodigious output, may he keep to it!
O'Brian, Stockwin,Lambdin,Forester,Bond, and Drake are some examples I give as great writers of historical fiction in this era of British history, and I enthusiastically include Mr. Wareham in the category. What a pleasure to be educated and entertained in such measure! In the vernacular of the era , Sir: Huzzah!

Fast, action-packed, and enjoyable historical fiction!

Strongly recommend this series to anyone interested in military historical fiction, especially if you’re a fan of Bernard Cornwell’s Richard Sharpe or V. A. Stuart’s Alexander Sheridan books. Wareham writes a very fast-paced story of his hero Septimus Pearce set in the Napoleonic Era with the British Army. Starting out in the first book as a spoiled second son of an up-and-coming merchant family, Septimus is practically forced by his father to join the New Foresters Regiment as a young Ensign. Rapidly rising in rank as fortune smiles on the quickly-learning boy, he finds himself posted to the far reaches of the Empire over the course of several campaigns and multi-year postings. Fire and Folly relates the adventures of Septimus as he commands his own battalion as Lieutenant Colonel during exploits in Ireland, Denmark, and Portugal following his return from India, where he ventured in the second book, Raging Rajahs. Wareham writes a charismatic figure with Septimus and surrounds him with a cast of believable players, both fictional and real, to enrich the story and make it an enjoyable read.
