Mistakes in the file for the Kindle Device

El problema es que para ser un libro en venta por parte de Kindle, viene muy mal configurado para el sistema, se salta p�rrafos, mezcla una p�gina con otra. Dif�cil de mantener una lectura fluida, demasiados errores.

The problem is that it not matter this is a book sold by kindle, exclusive for the device, but it came with to many errors, mixed pages. It's difficult to have a good reading with this kind of mistakes.

One of the most useful programming books I have ever read

Matthias Noback is a well known figure in the Symfony world, where he's been pioneering the concept of hexagonal architecture and developing some very cool libraries. So I have of course been looking forward to reading his book – Principles of Package Design.

I was not disappointed, whatsoever.

This is one of the most useful programming books I have ever read. Principles of Package Design should be required reading for anyone writing code for a living, independent of one's programming language.

IBEX MAGIC HARDSHIP (and a) YOUNG GIRL

Through the magic and mystical character Blue Sky we see the journey most of us take. Who am I? Where do I belong? This is a fabulous story of an infant raised by a pair of outcast ibex in one of nature's harshest places on earth. We watch Sky go from the innocence of childhood to a young woman. She is haunted and guided by dreams while meeting the challenges of the brutal side of Mother Nature. Love and guidance by the ibex and her mystical mother move Sky forward to finding answers to those questions and more....Is it true you don't exist until someone believes in you?
The opportunities for discussion among parents and friends as to the importance on one's place in life are endless. I highly recommend this book. Brian Kindall's skill at bringing Blue Sky to life is so vivid and in such an action packed fashion that this book is a page turner. I could easily envision this as an animated fillm as well as a book to be found in the hands of kids (young adults) everywhere.

Idaho author Brian Kindall has gained his love for adventure which he translates into his novels as a as whitewater raft guide, a packer for a backcountry hunting camp, hiking and skiing in the mountains of Central Idaho. He also, refreshingly, believes in magic - that sort of magic that lies within nature. All of this blends into the skill of an alchemist in his to date two published books, PEARL and BLUE SKY.

In BLUE SKY Brian manages create a story that is without limits to the reader's age - young readers will gain as much from his exquisite story as adult readers. Some how he distills nature and man's relationship to nature in a way that is novel, credible, imbued with magic and fantasy but remaining at all times an example of the zenith that belongs to nature, especially in the rarefied air of the high mountains. `The mountains, after all, are a mysterious world peopled with spirits and whispering legends' he states and it is into this setting that we step across his threshold for this story.

The character central to the book is Old Stone, an Ibex, and to assure that the reader is familiar with this species of animal the following is offered: The Alpine ibex is a species of wild goat that lives in the mountains of the European Alps. It is a sexually dimorphic species with larger males who carry larger, curved horns. Ibex tend to live in steep, rough terrain above the snow line. They are also social, although adult males and females segregate for most of the year, coming together only to mate.

Brian opens his story with Old Stone, the ibex, observing a human attempting to climb a heretofore impossibly difficult mountain. Knowing that humans have never navigated that terrain Old Stone is not surprised when the human loses purchase on the rock and falls to the snow below. `But then the man made a gesture that caused Old Stone to take notice. Gently, almost like a prayer, he placed both hands, palms flat, against the rock. And then he bowed his head. Old Stone leaned forward, unsure of what he was seeing. It seemed that maybe - Could it be possible? - the man was listening to the voice of the mountains. He was hearing the music. Old Stone had never thought humans capable of anything but silliness. They were always yodeling and hopping around on the rocks like a bunch of clumsy, two-legged rabbits. They certainly didn't seem to belong in the high mountains. But this fellow here, he was different somehow. Old Stone felt that it was true. This solitary man seemed to be a natural part of the alpine world. He seemed akin to the noble ibex. Old Stone couldn't help himself; he suddenly liked this man.' But when Old stone investigates the fallen alpinist he encounters a woman offering succor, and even more an infant that Old Stone `adopts' when the woman disappears. And thus we have the beginning of Blue Sky.

The synopsis offers a fleeting glimpse at the story to come: Like any normal girl, Blue Sky just wants to fit in. But it's all the not-so-normal stuff that's causing her problems. I have a young friend, Maddie, who I believe will be the ideal reader of Brian Kindall's BLUE SKY. Maddie is eight or nine, going on thirty, and she loves getting lost in books. The most underadvertised CD ever!

Curious as to what the differences are between the standard edition of the study guide (which sells for much less) and the "Deluxe" edition, it turns out the most significant difference is in the media. For some reason, the publisher isn't going out of their way to make it readily apparent, but the Deluxe/hardbound edition has a CD which includes a slew of items not in the standard edition. Among them: almost an hour of video on security topics, a "simulation engine" that lets you test your knowledge with something other than multiple choice, more bonus tests and a whole lot of PDFs - lab exercises, cabling info, etc. There is so much value in the CD alone, that it would be nice to see it packaged and sold separate or at least advertised as being the differentiator between the two books.

Passed first time

After taking the A+ and Network+ exams, I knew what to expect from CompTIA. I found the text great and passed the exam on the first attempt with an 810; however, the practice questions were not nearly as extensive as some of questions on the actual exam. I used other study materials for the this test and found these to more closely match the exam. I would suggest buying the Standard edition, saving $15, and then using another form of study material for practice questions. I'm not entirely sure why the Sybex questions were so easy in this book when the Network+ questions were very close to the actual exam. But if you only study this book and its questions you will not likely pass the exam, simply because you will not expect many of the questions, some of which are not even covered in this text.

Again, it's a fine book for a novice, but the questions are far too easy to adequately prepare a person for the exam, I was getting 85% on the first try. Go to CompTIA.org and take their 30 question practice test for an idea of the difficulty of the exam, for comparison I got a 55% on this test in the first attempt.

Don't use this alone to prepare!

Here is my review on this book. It's not the prettiest most organized and researched one, but here it is!

Passed security+ today, but barrrrrrrrrely. I really did get LUCKY with that test. When I took the test, I was not familiar with a good bit of material. I read the book from front to back doing the exercise questions to scouring the entire CD included. This book was well written but it could of easily been expanded on certain subjects that require a more thorough understanding of so when it comes test time you don't hesitate. I would recommend additional supplements for taking this test. I took a class a year ago, read some other security+ prep books, have looked up security applications for this stuff on web and fiddled around with, and apply these kind of concepts in the real world at my job in general IT (nothing too advanced). Heed my warning or you will be out of $270 and staring at a FAILED screen with some papers in hand that tell you what objectives you need to touch up on for next go-around!

Plus: Easy to Understand, engaging writing, wide array of comptia objectives covered, some hands-on experience labs included in cd with videos, practice tests to harden understanding.

Negative: Brief detail of important topics such as LDAP, TACACS+, RADIUS, various hashing and encryption standards, blue snarfing/blue jacking, calculating MeanTimeBetweenFailure(something like that) and figuring out recovery time by dividing some value(all of this stuff I recall from memory I was asked multiple times on the test and freaked!!!!!!!) ,not enough hands-on examples like other book's include like mini-projects with key loggers, sniffers, etc ( the fun stuff).

quick ending rant: My biggest gripe about Sybex books is the hands-on applications. I think it should be standardized in each book with projects and labs instead of having to have some kind of deluxe edition. Hands-on experience differentiates yourself from a "paper cert." Real world experience cannot be stressed enough. Please invest your time into this stuff to test your understanding!!!!!

The action picks up where Slated (Penguin, 2013) ended as Kayla learns more about the world she's been dropped into tabula rasa, and the role she is slated to play in the revolution. She wants to find out what happened to her boyfriend after he removed his nervous system-governing wristband–this is supposed to cause instant death but Kayla isn't so sure. There's also the appearance of a charismatic substitute teacher who holds information about her past and truths about her adoptive mother. This installment is consistent with the first book, using clear, direct prose, sustained action, and interesting twists. Kayla is not the most engaging of heroines (understandably, since the novel's main gimmick is that her entire memory and personality have been erased), but the dystopian government is a worthy villain (though its ideologies are not fleshed out). Amazing.

O I loved Slated and was so not disappointed with fractured yes along the way I was actually getting confused and annoyed but that was only because I was eager to know WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON. It's a game of too trust or not to trust. A few I seen coming and others took me by surprise.

Kyla the main character is so so brave while reading it there was so many situations I was screaming for her to run, or just let it go, live a simple life why spoil it, but she has a curious mind and won't let anything go. Her loyalty to ones she loves is unwavering and I admired this so much in her, especially with Ben.

I found this one sad compared to slated as it was just a warm up, but my heart broke a few times through this book.

It ends with a new beginning and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book, just not sure who exactly I will be reading from. Lucy, Rain or Kyla or maybe all three.

Must Read Sequel To Slated

I have been debating a lot what to rate this. There were just so many things going on with this book, it was really hard to pin down.

The first 60% or so of the book was beyond frustrating for me. We get introduced to Nico finally, Free UK, 2 completely new important characters and some other ones. There was a lot to process with this book. Even though Kyla has started to get most of her memories back, she still doesn't know the full story, and that was the frustrating part. There were a lot of dream-flashbacks going on and little tiny pieces here and there of the puzzle but it still didn't make any sense. It only started to come together after the 60% mark. In my opinion it was dragged out just a little too long.

Even though I understood the reasoning behind the why the Slating worked for Kyla, it was still a little hard to buy, and yet at the same time it's unnerving to read about how this girl can switch back and forth between personalities and there is still another whole 3rd one that she doesn't even know that much about.

Both of her personalities frustrated me for different reasons. There is a lot she doesn't know and she isn't supposed to be trusting any one and yet she isn't suspicious at all about the new guy who moved in right across from her house. I would have found it a little odd. Even Rain did, but Kyla kept ignoring that part of herself during critical points of the story. Then there is Rain herself and her obsession with Nico. I kept thinking of it as a Stockholm Syndrome, it really wasn't healthy at all. But not only do we have to deal with Rain's obsession of Nico, we have to deal with Kyla's obsession with Ben. I never liked Ben. He came across as weak, gullible and whiny. So reading about her thinking about Ben almost every other page was so annoying, specially when she has a perfectly great guy right there! One who is so much better than Ben ever was. This would have been one of those rare times were I would have gladly accepted the love triangle, but for once I didn't get it.

Plot wise it didn't really get going till the 60% mark when things really started to come together, and all of a sudden there so much stuff going on and so many things start making more sense and yet somehow still not enough. Kyla finally starts coming to grips with who she wants to be now instead of all the selfs that she was. She starts making decisions for herself and not what others think she should do. That final showdown was one hell of a shock and that's when everything really started clicking together.

I loved how everything started coming together at the end. Those are really the best parts of a book, especially when it's done well, which in this case it was. The ending gave you enough to get an adequate grasp on what's going on but still left you with plenty of unanswered questions to expect a couple of surprises in the final installment of this trilogy. One that I will be looking forward to. If you were remotely interested in Slated, you won't want to miss this one.

A strong 5 star book all around - author nailed it!

Terry is writing this series the way a series should be written. There's a great overarching storyline that is pulling you through and several smaller stories within that are in each book. She wraps up all the stories within nicely.

This book is a true page turner and the author does a fantastic job of putting you inside Kyla's head. You go through their story from her perspective and can really feel her struggles with the memories. This is such an underrated book and I really wish more people knew about it. There's a lot going on but they all intertwine and her reactions to everything are realistic but not predictable.

All in all I give this book a very strong 5 stars, as a stand-alone and as a continuation in a series. She nailed it!

About the Author
Karen K. Kirst-Ashman is Professor Emerita and former chairperson in the Social Work Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she taught for 28 years. She has written six social work textbooks in multiple editions and numerous publications, articles, and reviews on social work and women's issues. She also has served on the Editorial Board of AFFILIA: Journal of Women and Social Work, and as a consulting editor for many social work journals including the Journal of Social Work Education. Dr. Kirst-Ashman has been a member on the Board of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and has served as a CSWE accreditation site visitor on various occasions. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Wisconsin. She has been the recipient of both the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Roseman Award for Excellence in Teaching and the University Outstanding Teaching Award. She earned her BSW degree and MSSW degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Ph.D. in social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has worked as a practitioner and administrator in child welfare and mental health agencies.

Grafton Hull is Professor Emeritus at the University of Utah College of Social Work. He founded and directed the College's BSW Program. He has 38 years of experience teaching at BSW, MSW, and Ph.D. levels. His practice experience includes work in human service agencies providing mental health, child welfare, and juvenile justice programs. He holds a BS in sociology, an MSW, and a doctorate in education (counseling, guidance, and personnel services). Hull is the co-author of eight texts and numerous articles in social work journals. He has served on the CSWE Board of Directors, Commission on Accreditation, and Nominations Committee; and as a President of the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD), from which he received the Significant Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. His biography is listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA.
