What do you get with secrets, infidelity, suicide attempts, divorce, and custody battles? A humorous novella written by Thomas Chimera. This entertaining book proves that when life hands you lemons, you can definitely make lemonade with the right determination, and of course a great sense of humor. Couldn't put it down for a second

I was kind of strong armed by a co-worker who knows the author into reading "My Dad the Little League Coach" and all I can is wow! By the first page on through to the very last paragraph I really and truly couldn't put this little book down. While the author may not rival the prose of Proust he is indeed the rarest of wordsmith's who tells a sometimes tragic story in a way that lifts the soul and makes you actually laugh completely and unabashedly outloud. If you think this is a story about baseball you'd be way off track. This is a comedic work of art wrapped around doing the right thing in less than perfect ways.

I was fortunate enough to be on the initial review team for "My Dad the Little League Coach" so I hope my thoughts are not at all biased. Of the twenty-two books I've reviewed this year alone, never have I come across a more gifted and brilliant story teller than Chimera. If ever there could be a sequel to Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" with all the twists and turns of a David Lynch film, this is it.

Worth taking a look to see another MVVM tidbit

MVVM in WPF has been a slippery program design area for five years now and few sources have touched on it well. The early books on it handled it badly or were never even allowed into print( MVVM Unleashed ). I have four books on this subject and only one ( Designing Silverlight Business Applications ) gives this subject the proper introduction that it should have and even here it is a lot of work to put together the real concept. The problem is that none of these authors knows how to teach a subject properly. MVVM is a complex subject and it needs to be introduced by concept and then various approached should be compared. Finally, various software examples should be shown to the reader so that he has firm constructs to compare back to the initial introduction. As far as I know, no one knows how to teach software design any longer.

Although it is instructive to see the examples here, this book should only be used to increase the reader's understanding of MVVM design. The author gives a one page introduction to his design approach and launches directly into the code without any real explanation. The download of the code page doesn't exist.

In his favor, the code in the book is worth studying and his use of locators is worth a look. Since MVVM examples are hard to come by, The book is worth the three stars I gave it. MVVM design is still somewhat of a mystery and any working code is worth taking a look at unless the price is far too high.

Very good book

I personally don't like self-help books. But I loved this book. I loved that the author is man, and he is not telling us how to do things in a relationship. He is making you to realize that the behavior of your boyfriend is telling you that "he's just not that into you!". I borrowed to some friends and it help them soo much.

About the Author
Allan Robbins, B.Sc., M.Sc., was an instructor at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he taught numerous courses in the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Department prior to his retirement. He has served both as section chair and treasurer of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and as treasurer of the Electronics Industry Association of Manitoba. Robbins is also a former director of training, industrial applications, for Microelectronics Center. He holds bachelor and master of science degrees in electrical engineering.

Wilhelm Miller, Dipl T, B.Sc., taught numerous courses in the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Department at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he also served as chair of the department. Miller has served as president of the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) and is currently chair of the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB). He holds a diploma of technology in electronics and a bachelor of science degree in physics/mathematics.

Easy to use and follow

I purchased this book to help me study for my exam. So far it had all the information I need to get ready for it. It is broken down into 6 sections as well as an additional section with a,practice test. I also like that it includes 20 test taking tips. I've taken a highlighter and marked key words so I can retain the information much better. I like that it has information which I think is important without the other mumbo jumbo that isn't as impotent in other study guides. It's easy to read and follow. I recommend this book to anyone getting ready to take the TExES Core Subject EC-6 exam.

The content presented for the social studies part of the test is very difficult, but I feel it gives a concise summary of not only the history of the world but the United States.
I do think the practice test is more difficult than the Core Subjects test. .
I plan to use this to prepare my students for the content of the social studies part of the test.
Consider revisiting the questions to make them more appropriate to the Core Subjects Test.

This book provides plenty of content knowledge, but it is certainly not a fair representation of what the format of the test will be. When working through the math section of this book I was quite overwhelmed, but very little of the math content from the book was actually on the test. The fine arts, LA, science, and social studies sections are pretty good, but the social studies section needs to cover more Texas history.

William Twining is the Quain Professor of Jurisprudence Emeritus at University College London and a regular Visiting Professor at the University of Miami School of Law. He was a pupil of Karl Llewellyn in 1957 8 and put Llewellyn's very extensive papers in order after his death in 1962. Twining's recent writings include Rethinking Evidence, 2nd edition (2006), General Jurisprudence (2009) and How to Do Things with Rules, 5th edition (with David Miers, 2010), all published by Cambridge University Press and recognizable as part of the realist tradition.

Christopher McCrudden FBA is Professor of Human Rights and Equality Law at Queen's University Belfast and William W. Cook Global Law Professor at the University of Michigan Law School.
